Dancing Princess Fairies, Kayla's B-Day, the Circus

A lot has changed around our house since the last post. We celebrated Kayla's 21st Birthday on February 26th and not soon after Tory declared herself a princess. Somehow despite our efforts to delay this potentially obnoxious stage that every girl goes through, it has happened. Not only did she become a princess, she became a "fairy ballerina princess". She has never seen a Disney movie, so this is her own idea of what a princess is.  We aren't sure where she learned about ballet, and as far as we know her only exposure to fairies was the tooth-fairy episode of Yo Gabba Gabba.  Conveniently, as this transformation was taking place Wendy brought over a pink tutu which fueled an obsession.

Our princess informed us that she needed a fairy stick (magic wand)  She then assembled an outfit consisting of the tutu, Kayla's birthday crown, her new magic wand, ballet flats, and a pair of wings that she's had since her first birthday (and never had a prior interest in)  She wants to dress like this everyday. It's a battle to get her into regular clothes unless they are purple.

I took it all a step further and bought her a purple princess dress and introduced her to Angelina Ballerina. She nearly lost her mind!  In addition to the ballet steps she has been learning from watching it, she has also been working on hip-hop dancing, meringue, break-dancing, and tap dancing. It is hysterical to watch. She is really into dancing.

Tory wants everything to be purple these days. (a little pink is okay sometimes too if its princess-y enough). She even retrofitted her favorite magic wand with an old pen casing in order to make the handle purple. She loves magic wands. She grants wishes with them by spreading invisible rainbows over you.

We recently enjoyed a trip to see the circus too. Tory was especially impressed by the trapeze act. At home she tries to re-enact it by climbing up on chairs and pretending to swing off.

Below are some pictures taken in the last few weeks. Since we are way behind in our posting, look for another post shortly to see pics of Easter and the new baby cousins!
